there are 2 exchange markets in Lijiang, one is during March, another is in July. Both last about 15 days. There are animal markets in Lashihai and goods markets in several places within Lijiang city.

Shanghai International Textile Expo

Shanghai has gained a reputation with overseas business people as the most developed city driven by the Chinese Central government. That's why Fashion Shanghai (formerly named SIT: Shanghai International Textile Expo) was launched by STTSEC (a subsidiary of Shanghai Textile Holding Group and the organizer of Shanghai Tex: the biggest exhibition in China ) jointly with Fashion World Wide (previously SBA), representative of Premiere Vision in Asia at that time. Fashion Shanghai has become one of the major events of the Shanghai International Fashion Cultural Festival, organized by the Shanghai Municipal City Government, and has started to combine a garment section (formerly named SIFE: Shanghai International Fashion Expo) in the exhibition in order to meet strong market demand.

San Duo Festival

To the Naxi minority, this Festival is more important than Spring Festival. On this day Naxi people worship their patron saint San Duo in a large communal ceremony held at Sanduo Temple, or Beiyue Temple, where the spirit of San Duo was originally enshrined.

Zhuanshan (Walk around the Mountain) Festival

The Musuo people of Lugu Lake are revered as the only living matriarchal society in the world. For the Zhuanshan Festival, this Naxi minority sub-group dress in their best clothes to worship the Gemu (Lion) Goddess Mountain and pray for her protection.
